This course is for students who have already completed the prerequisite Written Expression Intermediate. This advanced course will build on students’ knowledge of written English in order to prepare them to write academic and college level essays, as well as understand and conduct research.

This course is intended to familiarize students with the basic principles of formal written English in order to prepare them to write academic and college level essays. Students will complete short in-class tasks, as well as longer take-home assignments to sharpen their understanding of concepts in written English such as: paragraph and essay structure, and writing a thesis statement.
