Lecture: Tuesdays, 14:15 until 15:45 Geb. D3.3 Seminar Room 2.15
The lecture will start on April 18th 2023.
Brief description:
The course deals with the analysis of different alternatives to move electrons in a solid. The key points addressed in the lecture are:
• Differences between the classical (Drude) and quantum (Sommerfeld) models of electronic transport.
• Limiting physical factors in superconductivity and types of superconductors.
• Basic concepts of thermoelectricity. Binary semi-conductive and rattling structures.
• In-depth analysis of the physical characteristics, fabrication and applications of semiconductors.
• Carbon nanotubes as a prospective conductive phase. Synthesis, properties and applications.
Requirements (non-essential, but helpful):
Knowledge of basic concepts on:
• Solid-state physics.
• Electrical physics.
• Crystal structures.
Language:
The lecture will be given in English.
Organization:
The assignments, lecture slides (PDF) and other documentation (bibliography, handouts, etc.) will be released according to the schedule provided.
Depending on the number of the students, the "Übungen" will be either an oral presentation or a written essay about circular economy.
