This module introduces students to modern methods in molecular modelling, ultrasensitive fluorescence spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, and colloid and interface chemistry. It provides an overview of the underlying principles of these methods as well as their practical and experimental implementation. Three of the four topics must be selected.
In addition to the subject-specific content, the module aims to develop an understanding of the practical aspects of experimental work and the scientific information flow. Students will learn to critically assess the possibilities and limitations of the methods covered and to apply them to specific scientific questions.
