Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning | WS 20/21

Computer-supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) is a mandatory winter semester online course. It is recommended that this course be taken in the 3rd semester. The online course is taught in partnership with other Universities such as the Unitversity of Oulu, Finland, University of Turku, Finland, and the Open University of the Netherlands. You will build small groups across these sites that dive deeper into one of the CSCL topics featured in this course, such as scripts for or co-regulation in CSCL. The course takes place from October to December only. While designed for your third semester, you may take this course also in your first semester and typically lots of students do. Please note, we have an Erasmus exchange program with one of the partners here, namely the Learning & Educational Technology Research Unit (LET) of the University of Oulu.

Learning Goals / Competencies

After completion of the Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning course, the student is able to

• Apply theoretical ideas of Collaborative Learning in the context of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL)
• Define the concept of CSCL
• Recognize the role of orchestration and scripting in CSCL
• Use emerging technologies as CSCL tools

• The concept of CSCL
• Theoretical models of CSCL
• Design and set-up of CSCL environments
• Scripts for CSCL
• Metacognition and co-regulation in CSCL
